My Photo
I stand mesmerized,
wondering how you sing
your notes hold the world spellbound -
the light of your music
lights up my universe.

Tomorrow will be a better day, India!

Three little kids from my township came
To my flat to ask for donation for poor people.
They said it is their idea, and that
They are going to execute it in their schools.
Isn't the future bright?

The purity and nobleness of the idea,
The braveness in coming forward,
Going door to door, and executing the idea,
At such a little age, ...
Ignites the hope and a belief that...
Tomorrow will be a better day, a much happier one, India!

Not a bye, but an additional home :)

I recently bought a domain for myself at bhaskarghosh.in, and created my first wordpress driven blog cum site there.
I have been, since then, fighting with my wits, to stop duplicatability of efforts and naturally of posts and resources. But, I can simply not leave the beautiful look and feel of Google's Blogger, even when wordpress.org gives me much more control.
Please visit my new blog. I am not stopping my love for first house, but I have decided to share it with a new home.

Giving birth and nurturing life!

Yes folks! Its all about birth and all about sustaining that life to newer horizons, leading to brighter future!

Do not get mis-fooled! I am talking about the future of our planet and when we talk about that, only two things come to my mine -- kids and the trees! Yes, this is how we would make earth a better place to live in, with cleaner human minds and greener environment :)

"It was a fine morning with the Sun God pardoning the hyderabadis and hiding behind the cool clouds! Yes, I am talking about the Saturday morning 9:30 am on the nineteenth day of June 2010. Volunteers of Pankhudi were eager to meet the volunteers from Move the Wheels (MTW) and Divine India Youth Association (DIYA) for a beautiful tree plantation experience. The day was scheduled for a plantation drive at UPS, a government primary school at Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

DIYA Volunteers had brought the plants, fertile soil, and the instruments for digging soil. Pankhudi volunteers (Satya, Surendra, Amit and myself) joined hands with the volunteers from DIYA (Pritam, Mukesh, Naveen with others) in digging the ground. Ah! We must say it was a new experience but a tiring one! As Satya from Pankhudi rightly wondered how the farmers do their agriculture work! The MTW volunteers (Anjana, Brunda, Sunita with others) encouraged the volunteers at work.
...
The volunteers from Pankhudi and DIYA together dug 17 pits of 2-3 ft each (believe me developing software is much easier!). After the pits were dug, students of 5th, 6th and 7th were divided into groups and assigned responsibility of watering and protecting the trees. The kids themselves, helped by the volunteers, planted and watered the trees. Various plants were planted, including Neem, Pipal and Bogenvilla.
...
Each tree was temporarily named DIYA1, DIYA2, and so on. The DIYA volunteers are working on renaming them meaningfully. The task of daily watering the trees was assigned to different groups of kids belonging to standard 5 through 7.
...
On the whole, it was lots of fun and excitement for the enthusiastic volunteers, kids and the families who attended this drive. For the people who were the first to participate in such an activity, it was a heart welcoming experience. Nevertheless the glittering eyes of the kids, shining bright with excitement, would always be in the memory of all the volunteers who attended the day! Let’s wish, such activities come again and again…"

So, we had a really fun filled start to the pleasant day of Saturday, June the 19th! Just hope we have more of such events :)

Fun Filled Day @ Celebrity Resort Hyderabad

Darun gelo din ta! (18th April Sunday 2010)!

Han Mosai! Yes Sir! I am talking about the day long outing we BIH members had on that day

The day started with a li'l bit of delayed bus journey, starting from Hitec City and to the destination - Celebrity Resorts, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. As it  was my first occasion to meet the BIH-ians, I was more excited and enthusiastic!!! The event was very well planned, organized and executed to perfection by people like Rahul and others (I don't know much, please pardon me here). He had sms-ed all about the route and the bus-stops POCs. So I had to had my share of disturbing the POCs of areas adjacent to where I stay - Madhapur.

And when we started, it was fun! I met with 32 amazing bengalis! The bus was hot and whenever we stopped in between, we took either coconut water or sugarcane juice!

The entry was sweet-mouthed for many including me, as the security didn't allow the sweet box that Mama (codename!) had brought!

As we entered the resort's hall, we quenched our thirst with glassful of cold water and juices! Then started a round of photography! Yes! There was quite a big list of photographers amongst those 33 co-journeyers! I tried capturing some of those talented people with their cameras and their subjects of photography!

And then we got mutually divided between various indoor games and the sun was quite angry and hot! Table tennis, Badminton, Snookers, Carrom,...

There was a small bunch of people who sweat-ed in sun, playing the unofficial national game of India - Cricket!

Me and few others had already recorded the pitch report and posed as winner

When I returned to the hall, I saw teams - winners and runners up asking for photographs! And as I already said, photographers were in plenty!

After a round of hungry fellowmen, fighting out at the dumb-charades with names of Bengali, Hindi, English, Bhojpuri movies...

Then came the real bonanza! The Lunch!
Bengali Dishes comprising of Rui Macher Kalia (Fish Curry), Kosha Mansho (Mutton), Potato Fry, Aalu Potol Rosa (Potato and Pointed gourd spicy curry), Bhaja Mugher Dal, Sweet Tomato Chutney, Sweet curd (Misti Doi), Ice-creams and last but not the least - The Rasogollas!

Post lunch, everybody wanted to get cooled down and the best option was to get into the moderately cool swimming pool waters! Undecided, I too went into the pool - my first time... And drank some amount of chlorinated water before realizing that I could actually stand!

The people dived and jumped, swam and shouted, as the "find the coin" play continued in water

We were long into the pool, as I saw experienced swimmers diving flat, side by and long jumping into the waters!

Post the water event, we went back to the AC hall Sangam, and had a round of tea/coffe and snacks (singaras/samosas). Me and some of us went to quench our thirst! There saw some ladies who got charged for five glasses (Rs 200) for one bottle of Real Tetrapack Fruit Juice!

The evenings last event was another animated round of dumb-charades, post which we all gathered - sat, stood, lied  down - to get group photographed!

Further then, we all shouted, sang and danced our way back in the bus...

It was a fully packed day with fun, masti and anondo! Just wish that this comes often and gives us all, chances to wash away the depression and fatigue that modern day job brings with it!!!

Brain always thinks!

AT LUNCH TIME

Wednesday, 25th March, 2008

-One-

"First Phase or Second Phase?", asked R
"First!" was my spontaneous reply. Miss S smiled.

"Oh!" Nobody listened to my sigh, as I stood at the end of the long queue to get my lunch. I waited patiently for my turn to come. Miss S passed by along with her sweet characteristic smile!
"Hi!" Somebody sitting on nearby desk greeted me.
"Aalu Paratha", I gave out a fifty rupees note, as I didn't have the change.

Sweet Pongal, curry, curd and two aalu parathas were on my lunch plate today. I joined R and Miss S on the dining table.

I don't remember how it got started.
Perhaps I started the talk. "Do you know S - R has one bad habit!"
"What?" She smiled.
"He is always thinking! Even when he eats!" I explained.

"How?" As if she was not convinced yet.
"See, still this time, he is thinking about our director K" I laughed.

At this time R joined, "Man is always thinking..." and did I have even the slightest knowledge that those two-three lines would escalate into a full-fledged and fruitful discussion?

-Two-

"You also think always", Miss S supported him.
"Who said?" said an adamant I!

"See B, our brain is always thinking" R tried to explain.
"No! See I give you an example. When you eat a very delicious food. You just put one spoonful into your mouth. Close your eyes and relish the food, I mean the taste!".
I felt I had just given a justified answer.

"You put the spoon into your mouth. Your brain was thinking all the while how to do that complex procedure", said R in his characteristic way of explanation.

Miss S intervened, "You said you feel the taste, relish it. So, your brain was thinking that the food was so delicious!"

"No, my brain was not thinking when I was putting the spoon into my mouth or when I was feeling the taste... See, when you are sitting under the open sky or a moon-lit night and a pleasant, cool breeze is blowing... You just feel it, you don't think anything at that time!" I was pressing hard to explain my point.

"You were thinking that you are not thinking!" laughed Miss S.

We all started laughing.

Revisiting the Taste of the Kashmiri Pulao

The day's Friday, the first day of the year twenty ten! The occasion's P's B'day plus (P+A)'s marriage [:P]...

Against the numerous nominations like Barbeque Nation and 36 Jubilee Hills, N-Grill was the one that was chosen out. And there went the gang of six to fete the occasion!

Amongst the shouts and calls of starters, soups and drinks [SSD], alas! was forgotten the most crucial custom of a birthday. And lo! the tradition of the cake was not to happen... Six can not finish half a kilo, and the one kilo one was thought to be too costly to arrange for. So, thus started the jubilation, sans the cake!

The exclaims were answered and the six relished on the SSD's - veg spring roll and chicken kewabs and sticks were gobbled.

Then came the real shocker! The restaurant was an European styled and the six sighed on the realisation that rotis and rice are not served.

A real mess! And the final retreat to the Old Castle - The Ginger Court!!!
Here starts the story of re-experiencing the taste of the Kashmiri Pulao [:D]

And the aroma of the delicious dish satiated my senses - A single glimpse of the master piece was enough to arouse interest amongst the non veggies in the gang!
Cherries, Kismis, Cashew, Pineapple pieces, ... Oh! I can't write more without wiping out the water coming out of my mouth!!!

And I was quick to snap a shot of the couple of the Paneer Kurchan and the Kashmiri Pulao on my plate!

All that ends well is thought back as good! The same would be said for this day of a real mess and a near perfectly gratifying finish!
